Boonton is a town, one of only nine in New Jersey, and a separate municipality from neighboring Boonton Township. Main Street climbs steeply along a cliff above the Hollow of the Rockaway River, following the line of an old trail, and just below it Grace Lord Park drops into Boonton Gorge, where the river runs through whitewater and over a falls about 25 feet high.
